(extended) is a work in progress furthering research for Sara van Gaalen’s piece Mouf (2024, IGNITE! 2025). The piece asks the question “How do I mother myself?” Devised through contact improvisation with van Gaalen and her duet partner, a CRT TV named Big Mama, (extended) explores the relationship between self-care and consuming media. Using data moshing, glitching, and touch this piece forms connections between learning to mother ourselves and the vices that soothe us.
